Meet Anisa Bear

Anisa Bear, owner and founder of Penrose Professional Services, is an editor, writer, and coach who helps nutrition professionals ditch the jargon so they can get more clients to say, “Heck yes!” and turn confused readers into confident action-takers.

For almost a decade, Anisa has been the go-to copywriter for government agencies, helping break down legalese into words people can actually understand.

During a break from government employment, she worked at Bayer Crop Science alongside some rockstar dietitian communicators. She realized plenty of others in the nutrition world were out there struggling to translate science into something real people actually get, and she knew she could help.

Anisa has a bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in nutrition science, and a master’s degree in agriculture and management. She is passionate about health literacy, specifically nutrition literacy.

Anisa is also the main content writer and editor for Paid Leave Oregon, the state’s paid family, medical and safe leave program. She uses her plain language skills to translate law and rule into useable information for everyday Oregonians.

Anisa loves living in the Pacific Northwest where she hikes and camps with her husband of 25 years and her two young and frisky malamute mixes, Oakum and Revy.
